Introducing the wife to my 4 wheeler.
when i got my first quad (blaster) my wife rode it a little, but wasnt real excited. after a coupla years, i was riding the blaster into the ground, so knew it was time for something bigger. i then ran across a real good deal on a LT500. of course I snapped that up. spent the winter rebuilding it, and then drug her to the sand dunes in the spring. now she's as hooked as i am, and I've only had to pull the quad off of her three times. she's riding the blaster so it doesnt get real heavy, but she's learned a lot and is a little more carefull. but she still likes to try and follow me. i keep telling her, you dont have enough power. but she is loving it. now we have a atc 90 for my 7 yr old son, and he wants to go to. so i guess i rebuild it this winter so we don't kill any mosquitos and away we go....
just remember, be safe wear a helmet

Well educate me a little more. I ride on rough ground, sometimes open fields sometimes the woods. Seems to me the sport models would be more of a hassle in the timber and rough terrain. Need the racks for hunting. A friend followed me one day on hiz Z400. He was dragging the ground in places and without the brush guard type hardware on the front, would seem more prone to damage. Exposed chain, etc etc.
The next step up from an Ozark, is 4WD. I rode a Yamaha 4WD and wasn't overly impressed. Not fast and handled poorly by comparison to the 2WD. Just looking at the info and pictures on the 4WD models, I don't see anything that makes me think they would be fun to try and haul butt with. And catching air would be tough if not impossible.
Maybe I'm all wet. Maybe there are fast/well handling 4WD models that you can treat like a sport model. That's what I'm asking coz I don't know. Somehow having a 600 pound 4x4 roll over on me doesn't sound fun. A 370 pound sport model I could probably fight off. I'm not ready to buy but always ready to look at my options.
Crushed my cheek and cracked my skull in 1976, No helmet. Today, I am smarter than that.
