going to try to beef one of my cracked swingarms next week
can be done, just have to gusset it up a bit

also could go for a steel swing arm
$498 as of yesterday when i called locally, price went up but the new price includes gusseting

it would be cheaper to fix it than replace it with a new one

yea but if you don't get it done right it will crack again. had mine on my first lt welded once started to crack that weekend i took it camping. Now I found a bunch of hair line cracks around the top side where the center crossmember that the shock linkage bolts to, the welds to the rails have cracks and a couple crackes that extend into the rails. I am going to use the cracked swingarm of the lt i just bought, it doesn't have hairline cracks in it, to beef up.
i have also heard that they can crack up by where they bolt to the frame so you may want to gusset there too.

I wouldn't bother reparing the swingarm, these aluminum LT swingarms can be a pain, espescially the 85-86. I'm not 100% sure. but I THINK that the 87+ LT swingarms will fit on the 85-86. Try and find one of those.

Click here this thread states that the swingarms are interchangeable, he's just doing the opposite(dunno why?)

i heard that the early model style ( 85 - 86 ) fit on the later years, but the later years dont fit on the early models...the later models would want the early style for the easier chain adjuster, but i personally would not do this because the early models were WAY more prone to cracking.

i got mine back from fast track today i made the 1/4" top and bottom diamond plate pieces to box it in and the braces up front inside the shock area also my to plate make the shock area smaller/ stronger.
i will have pics of it in my gallery soon i got the welds done for $100 but i work for a shop that takes all there welding and frame staitening needs to this guy so i got a deal.
