I'm getting a 1988 LT500R quadracer, anything I should look for, or be wary of? Any reliability problems? Thanks, I think its gonna be an awesome quad!

Run Through all the gears make sure they shift smoothly. Also check front and rear bearings also the axle carrier bearings. Go to the link in the signature to see photos of my Quadzilla. Also email me if you have any other questions on the 500 i know a lot about them.

What happened to the blaster idea was simple, I got to ride one yesturday. I am way, and I mean WAY too big for it. Its just not gonna work. So I checked some classifieds and found the '88 zilla. The price is in my range, and it sounds like a good deal so far, so I'm gonna try and get it. My friend has a LT250R and its a good quad, so I think the LT500R will be perfect for me. Thanks for the info THEXOTIC1, I'm sure I'll be asking you all kinds of questions and tips soon enough. The quad is stock, except for a DG pipe and silencer, renthal bars, Motion Pro twist throttle, and ITP rims and tires.

Thanks,

Kyle

The 500's a good bike, but you're going have to enjoy working on it or it will frustrate you. A couple of my buddies have 'em and I've done my share of engine rebuilding on their bikes! It takes a lot of work to keep 'em running. But when they run...!

Yes, I do enjoy working on my quad. Its part of it, and I love making it better. I also found a '88 LT250R. Which is better? I'd say the LT500R, the only thing I would guess is that the LT250R would be better in the woods because its smaller. Thanks guys.

I have three zillas and I love them. Look at the cylinder head and make sure it has 7 hold down studs. If it has 6 someone has changed the 88 with an 87 and they are less reliable. Check for cracks in the frame. Look at every weld joint that is usually the weak link for cracks. If you havent bought that one you are looking at my 90 zilla is for sale but I dont know what you have to spend. If you did buy it and have any questions about maintenance feel free to email me at brackettemail3@aol.com I also have a bike I am parting out If you need any parts.

How much do you want for the zilla? I can only spend $2,500. Tell me about it and let see what we can do.

I actually have 2 that I need to get rid of one is a very nice 90 but I need at least 3100.00 out of it to even break even. The other is a lot cheeper but a lot rougher too. It needs some tlc but still runs good and everything is there. I need 2100.00 out of that one. Email me if you are interested. brackettemail3@aol.com

We also have an Lt500R that we may sell. It's an '89 with motor, pipe, powerhead, reeds, carb - all done by Paul Turner. Very hot bike. fish_bulb@hotmail.com
