LT Z250 mods
#2
Right now, all you can do is the basics. Add a pipe, jet kit, and air filter. I was told by my dealer that cams are being ground for these guys in the near future.
When I had my 250, I added the pipe and jet kit, it made a nice improvement in power.
Have fun!

Ok on a z250 the first thing i would do is the exhaust with the jet kit. Like you said if you just get the jet kit than you will only see be throtle response not really any power gain ,same with the airfilter. I would get a full exhaust with the jets because you'll have to rejet if you have a full system and a airfilter too. Those are really the only major mods you can get for the z250 to gain any power. You will see a good amount of power difference with those few mods. A new exhaust is goin to be louder than the stock so yes it might be loud depending on the one you get. You can find these parts at rockymountainatv.com or at you local suzuki dealer. Rockymountain is probably your best bet. Albaaction has some nice parts to for the z250 also. Yes it worth the money for the improvement.

The jet kit allows more fuel into the engine. Basically you would remove the bottom part of the carb, and replace your stock metering jet, with a larger one. Usually when you add a pipe, they will either A. come with the proper jets, or B. tell you what size to get. You can get a jet kit from most of the aftermarket parts suppliers ( my dealer GAVE me the right jet for my new pipe)
Think of your engine as a large air pump. The more air you let out of it (stepping up to a aftermarket exhaust) the more air/fuel you can put into it. The new air filter allows more air in, the jet allows more fuel in, the pipe spits it all out. All this allows the engine to make more power.
I would not jet the quad, unless you have added the pipe. Depending on the pipe you add, yes it could be a lot louder. My neighbor just added a slip on Yosh pipe, and it's quiet, but in my humble opinion sounds terrible. I added the DMC Alien full exhaust, and it was louder but very cool sounding.
Just ask around, and I am sure folks will give you reports on their pipes, and how loud they are.

Thanks for the advice. I don't want the quad to be loud so will probably leave stock for now.
So these Lt Z250's don't come with any removable manufacturer restrictors like the LT80 etc?
