I bought my 05 Z400 a few weeks ago and I love this quad. Problem is, I raced my buddys 400EX last weekend twice and it was close but I couldn't beat him. Is there something wrong with my Z? My friend said its probably not broke in yet and his EX does have some mods. Is this normal or do I have something wrong? if he modded his ex and yours is still stock its very normal and once you get it broke in and have some mods done you should have no problem beating him

nope you didnt do anything wrong. he probably had it piped and jetted and a new cdi box. so when you start to mod your quad see what I did to mine its easy to go over board on what you can do to your quad
almost $18k in it now

Thats a nice bike man. I just bought a 04 limited z but all ive done to it was bought nerfs. Im a sophomore and minumun wage doesnt allow for much modding when i have to pay for my bike and gas for my truck. I just ride for fun right now but would like to race in the future. Do you know how i could get the most umph for my tight budget? Thanks. O yeah, that silver plastic looks sweet.

 

I believe in saftey first. skid plates, nerfs, bumpers
then mod the bike. pipe and jet, pro flow intake, k&n air filter first with no air box lid
then a new cdi box for that extra 1000 rpm.
then start on suspension and so forth

 

sounds good, can you mix those lonestar a-arms with stock shocks? I also thought about +2 spacers. What is your opinion of spacers. I see them as a cheap way to add width.
