I am looking to mount a warn 2000A winch on my 4 wheeler. I know they come prewired but i dont know anything more as to the wiring diagram or where the wiring lies or what all i need. It comes with a big bulky rocker switch that i dont need so i hopin the 4 wheeler already has a switching selonoid prewired into it that i can just run a rocker switch on.. Any input is appreciated...

 

I installed the 2500# warn on our 05 vinson. The 2500# warn comes with the rocker switch that mounts on the handle bar. Most of the wiring is preinstalled (as you mentioned) I dont know if there are differences in the solenoids (solenoid comes with the winch) between the two winches. The one that comes with the 2500# warn mounts on top of the rear storage compartment. It is easiest to remove the storage box for installation. The box is predrilled for the solenoid mounting just snip the 3 rubber plugs and bolt your solenoid on. The plastic is also predrilled next to the battery (for the wires that come with the winch). There may likely will be differences in what comes with the 2000# winch versus the 2500# winch package that is offered with the vinson for $69 (taylor made for Suzuki) The only wires that you should need to install (not already on the vinson) are from the battery to the solenoid, and the rocker switch leads which connect to pre-existing wiring on the vinson. See if the dealer will make you a copy of the mounting instructions that come with the 2500# winch this will save you a lot of time when it comes to deciding which wire goes where. Or if he cant or wont, give me a yell and i'll find my instructions and post them for you.

 

Hey Birch, I'm yelling. I'm also trying to install a 2.5 warn to my 05 Vinson. Because the instructions that came with the winch are so general, I having problems deciphering them into Vinsonese. Do you think you could post your instructions or do you know of a website that has them? It would sure make things alot quicker than scratching my head and wondering if I'm going to fry my electrical system when I power it up. Thanks in advance
