locker

I was wanting to know about the Detroit Gearless locker. I understand what it does, but what I want to know is does it stay engaged full time on can you run in 4wheel drive without having the locker engaged? I have a 03 Vinson manual and do all kinds of riding and have been riding for years. I ride with my brother a lot and he has a BF 750 and a friend that has a Prairie 650 which have lockers. I know the locker makes a lot of difference in mud. Can anyone describe the Detroit Gearless Locker?

Highlifter.com has a good description of it. When 4 wheel drive is engaged, it will never uselessly spin just one wheel. However, since it's gearless, supposedly it is no harder to steer in 4wd b/c it still allows the outside wheel to spin faster in a turn. There is no two mode 4wd with the DGL. The 4wd is still either on or off.
That's my understanding of it. I wish it had the ability to change from 2wd to limited slip 4wd to locked 4wd just like the KQ. I have a feeling that Suzuki will add a locker to the Vinson next year. It would only make sense since they have it on the KQ now.
