Default Vinson Belt Slip

I think the belt in my Vinson is slipping. I noticed a "jump" when starting out the other day. Then when I put it into park, I heard two clicks as the machine settled backwards until the parking gear grabbed. Also, there was a whine during riding. I ran through some pretty deep water a two weeks ago. I opened the plug bolt and revved the engine per directiosn of the manual -- no water came out. Suggestions would be welcomed.

If it was mine, I would remove the belt housing cover and inspect the belt. Do you ride hard? Work with it? Tow? Mud? Have you changed your belt since you bought it?

I bought it last spring. I've ridden it maybe a dozen times (about 50 hours on it). I do ride pretty fast and ride some difficult trails. I have done very limited mudding, mostly limited to the one trip a few weeks ago. I have not towed anything substantial (a small Rubbermaid trailer around my property). I have not changed the belt.

Vinson504, do you have any advice regarding the parking gear not engaging right away? It definitely allows the machine to roll before engaging.

the squeek is normal, mine does it they all do it.

the park problems------- there is a way to adjust the linkage on the rear end, take the piece off the spline of the park box, and put the shifter in park. also make sure the spline is turned in the park locked direction, roll the bike and you will feel a click knowing its engaged, next put the linkage back on the spine and tighten it up.

if you keep having problems, let me know, there is another adjustment but its not as quick and easy to explain.

They all do it? Oh sh-t. Is mine abnormal because it doesn't? The only time I hear a squeak/howl is when I brake hard ( to a stop) then nail it.

Bingo! I wouldn't call that belt slippage(edge?), I'd say that was a clutch engagement issue. I haven't had any catastrophic failure due to this. But, I'd be interested to hear from the people that have installed clutch kits, to see if this still happens-even after.........
