And for rider skill I am a better rider by far and he has maybe 10 lbs on me. When I get used to it I will probably like it more. I found myself short shifting quite a bit. I also was having a hard time with wheelies unless I poped it up in first then hit second good to catch the balance point. do you guys have to drop the clutch pretty good the pop it up high in second and third without alot of scootin back and pulling. thanks fot the input

I'm used to two strokes, anyhow we raced and I took him by a lenth or two right from the start but he started catching when hit third. It was close, I was expecting to spank the blaster. I also thought second gear to be kinda weak when not getting first reved out hard. I just thought it would be faster all together. now it does handle great. Any thoughts on the matter?

Well you are kind of compairing 2 different animals.
2-stroke engines are made to rev High, and rev fast.
4-strokes don't rev as high, and they rev alot slower
You need to get use to shifting with a 4-stroke.
... I always considered 3 to be kind of week, not enough torque..
If you only picked up the Z a couple of days ago, you need to break it in, a brand new engine is tight and needs to loosen up before it becomes fast. You are compairing a brand new engine to an old engine that has been loosened up for a long time.
You are also compairing a modified engine, to a bone stock engine... (Though the size different alone should make the Z faster, even stock)
Any engine as it comes from the factory is going to be 'toned down' To meet EPA, Noise, etc..
When you open up the intake and exhaust, and of course rejet, a new monster will be born..

i dont think it sounds like the bike. sounds like he is just staying too low in the gears and losing power as he goes along. I also took it easy for about 5 hours of ride time too break it in..................Screw this I feel like I am repeating everyone else lol.......

Ya once your Z is nicely broken in you'll be able to spank that blaster pretty bad. But before then the true colors won't really shine. And a pipe and take the lid off your air box and you'll be able to ride with pretty much anyone without to much of a disadvantage.(depending on your skill) The the only hard part is choosing wich pipe to get.
