Default Not 2 impressed with the power of new z400

Just bought one a couple days ago and rode it in some good trails today. I also have a blaster w/ pipe, reeds, spacer, jet kit,and k&n for motor mods. My buddy rode with me today on the blaster. I'm used to two strokes, anyhow we raced and I took him by a lenth or two right from the start but he started catching when hit third. It was close, I was expecting to spank the blaster. I also thought second gear to be kinda weak when not getting first reved out hard. I just thought it would be faster all together. now it does handle great. Any thoughts on the matter?

I'm pretty sure something is up...because we have a Vito's 240 Blaster down here and a piped Z will rip that thing a new one. Maybe yo just have to get used to riding a 4 stroke...I'm not sure. But something is definitely wrong with that Z, or the rider!

You could pull the airbox lid off and install a larger mainjet (I used a 150 mikuni). This makes a nice gain over stock.

All these things the rest are saying are good places to start. Also remember size of the rider.

Hey guys unless that blaster has been modded to the extreme the NEW stock z 400 should definatly walk no run away from the blaster. My question is why are you racing the motor around without breaking it in first? Also you didn't give us more info like body wieght and skill levels.

yeah you probably have to get used to riding a 4 stroke, cause i'm so used to riding my 250R, but when i jumped on my brother's 04 400ex i sucked riding it, i shift too quick on the 400ex cause i'm so used to it on my 250R, but my 2 stroke has the power to wind out every gear real quick, plus the 2 strokes usually have a close ratio tranny while the 4's have the wide ratio's. take some time riding the Z then race again, you should definetly smoke it the next time if not there is something wrong

New cams and some other crap, so possibly headwork too.
