450R or Zilla
Yea, I really need to get on that. I originally wanted to get some pics up when I first joined this forum. It's just fallen lower and lower on my priority list. Within the next week, I'll try to get some pics of at least the quads I have at my house. Those would be one of my '88 zillas (the one that I ride a little bit.), my 87 LT250, my wife's '88 LT230E, and my son's lt50 and lt80. The rest are all at my parents house a couple of hours away. I'll try to get pics of those too at a later date.
BTW, the few times that I've messed with uploading pictures to the web, I've usually had trouble getting the file sizes low enough to upload. Any tricks or suggestions?

You guy's are arguing over a comparison between Apples and Oranges! Down-right SillY!!

a lot actually. the rest he made no sense. that 450r prolly has 45-47hp and the zilla prolly has 50 or maybe a lil more. a 2 stroke spins more then a 4 stroke, especially the 450r. they hook up and go

Considering its in the high 30's stock, its really makeable... and you dont have to pay $bux$ for +13hp

51hp for the quadzilla is a crank number. i mean they claimed the banshee had 48 back then, and we all know it dosent. also the tecate supposedly had 42. yeah right. if it did it would handidly beat both 450s with less weight and a lil more hp. i heard the quadzilla stock AT THE WHEELS is actually 45. which is still more than any stock quad

Yeah I heard that too.. around 45. A guy on the forums dynoed his when it was stock and made 47.5
I THINK its the paul turner pipe or the LRD that is claimed to add 22% hp -> +10
so that would bounce a piped zilla to 55rwhp. I never saw a zilla without a pipe so...
hey spoRtRax450R you really own these 13 bykes currently ???
This is f***in crazy you have almost all the best atvs !! Im jalous

Those claims might be a little stiff if your simply bolting the pipe onto a stocker... The port timing on these motors is pathetic, and certainly don't let it breathe like it should. The pipe helps, but some good port work along with an appropriate carb, and the right pipe REALLY wakes the sleepy beast (Low to mid 70 range should be fairly easy).

spoRtRax450R, you are incorrect on the HP. The Banshee was never rated at 48 HP stock. I have nearly all of the old 3&4 wheel Action mags with articles on the Zilla, most of them are comparisons against the Banshee. Very vew of them ever even broach the HP #'s like they do today, but the few that do always rate the 500 at either 51 or 52 HP, and the Banshee is rated right around 37. That was using a typical wheel driven dyno just like is used today, and the stock Banshee seems to be rated relatively the same today. Everyone thinks that HP is some measurement that changes over time and it's not. It's a very static calculation. Only in the early 60's in cars was there ever a change. On crank dynos, manufactures were forced to used Brake Horse Power which simply means all of the accesories on the cars when they are sold must be bolted to the engines (power steering, alternators, fan blades, etc...). Ever since the car industry was forced to have standardized HP ratings, everything else naturally has also. On quads, HP is and probably always will be measured at the wheel when they are talking about stock machines. There's not even room for differences since ATV's don't have all the accesories that cars do. Only race shops who built extremely modified engines will do crank dynos, and a lot of times that's because the engine could be going in anything and they only have access to the engine.
