thanks for the info. my case is the opposite of the one you talked about, mine is an 88 with an 87 piston runs awesome but been hard to get the jetting figured out. sometimes hard to start when its cold, but what one dont huh?

87-92 have the same bore size. The 87 has a slightly different piston. On the 87 the centerline of the wristpin is a bit different than the 88-92's. So using an 88+ piston in a 87 will throw off the compression. Don't qoute me on this but if i remember correctly suzuki did this to compensate for a different port map they changed to in 88.

The 87 and 88 pistons are very diferent. The piston skirt on the 88 and up pistons have a large "u"shape in the back for port timing, also the 88 and up pistons have 2 little pin holes in them ,i cant remember if they were on the front or back,to promote lubrication

I wasn't aware of the U shape, i had a 91 that had a wiseco piston in it and it didn't have that "U" cut out of the skirt, could the "U" be a mod to aid porting or is it just used on the stock piston?
The 87 piston is also supposed to have two holes in it to lubricate the exhuast bridge, if you've seen one without these it was most likely that somebody forgot before instalation.
