Jetting Eiger for Altitude
#11
You would think the dealer would have looked at the specs for you. Service sucks everywhere I guess.
It's a Keihin CVK32SS. They had two different kinds of jets when I went, one had a hex head and was longer, that is NOT the one you want, so I'm assuming when he said large or small, you want the small.

Limpin Lizard,
Well that is what I said EXACTLY. I said "You are the dealer". "You have the parts list and the exploded view".... He said "Bring it in and we can take a look". I said "Quad a couple hundred miles from me"....Oh well, this forum is AWESOME as is my Duramax Truck site. Where in the world would be without them.... You are right. Service is quite poor everywhere. Once they sell, you are on your own..
Thanks for info, Will pick them up Monday...

I'd be surprised if you have luck richening your mixture, since at higher altitudes you have LESS oxygen, not more. Leaner the higher you go is the formula. An internal combustion engine is just a chemical reaction machine, nothing more. It doesn't care how fast the air is going, or what you had for breakfast, just how much of each, and what temperature. The Eiger comes lean from the factory, that's a pretty established fact, to have to go even leaner at only 5000 feet (which is where I was just riding today in the snow in N California) is surprising. You should try adjusting your idle circuit screw before you change your main jet, that might make the difference you need. You might be surprised how much it affects the runability of your machine.

go to the top of the page and put eiger in the search box and scroll to page 3 and click on "eiger jetting stock is 122..." and read the post by aksafari. This is prolly the best post you'll ever read on jetting. then check out the one about the vinnie carb he put on.
Thanks Aksafari

Eiger2,
I tried the search and was unable to locate. Can you link me to the thread? As for the going richer, When I race and do corrected altitude, I ALWAYS lean it out as there is less O2 present. However, With a race car you have an established baseline and many passes to confirm data from data logger. But that is under the premise that it was jetted almost right on mark to start with. I have been asking for help since the Quad lacks some luster and has since purchase and I know it is all carb related. Having to run choke halfway to make it run tells me it needs some fuel. Quads are new to me. The principles of combustion engines are not. I have seen many threads on the site where people jetted up and found awesome results. If AKSAFARI's suggestion is right about adjusting idle circuit screw first, I can try that before jetting. Let me list the symptoms for further input
1) Idle to low when choke is off, It will die if I turn it to off position after warm up. ( I adjusted the white star headed screw attached to the cable that runs underneath to increase idle. Had no real effect ( Is that the idle circuit or idle speed adjustment?)
2) Keeping choke at half all the time lets Quad run OK, But it lacks throttle control. It jumps right off idle and suffers at the top end.
The quad is awesome, just needs a few adjustments to make it better.
Anybody have an exploded view or an excerpt from the Suzuki service manual? I guess it may be time for the manual
As always, thanks for all the Help Eiger owners....
