Default Jetting Eiger for Altitude

Need some help.
I know which way to go, but do not know who to purchase them from.
What does the Eiger come with Stock?
Any recommendations on jet size?
Simple to do?

Bought Eiger at store at 900 feet, Eiger is being used at 5500- 6000 ft. Definitely needs some help. Seems to be struggling a bit.

The main jet is a 122. I went to the local Suzuki dealer for my jets, they didn't sell them individually so they sent me next door to the Kawasaki dealer.
It's real easy to do. Have you looked at your plug to see which way you need to go?

Limping Lizard,
Thanks for the response. Logic tells me I have a significantly reduced amount of 02 at 5500 or so feet. I will pull plug and confirm. It has always had the off idle stumble which lead me to believe much it was lean(I think most the Eigers folks concurred). Now comes the tuning for higher altitude. I have to always leave choke on about 1/2 way. I turned up Idle a bit as it idled much to low.

I have never had a quad. So bare with me, Can you give me a quick low down on jet changes?. I used to race cars up to recently so jetting Holley Dominators was an easy deal. Do you have to take Carb off?

Thanks

It's pretty easy to get to the carb on these. I took mine off because I was doing a few other things at the time, but others here have said if you loosen the clamps on either side you can tilt it enough to get to the bottom. It's just a matter of pulling the bowl off the bottom and unscrewing the main jet (sort of in the center and sticking up the highest). Dont get the hex head jets, they stick up a little further. I also got some thin brass washers from a friend of mine that races bikes to lift the needle a hair, but you don't really need to do that part.
The jets are less than $3 a piece, so I would just get a couple and do trial and error by running and reading the plug. I wound up using the 135 on mine, and we're about 800 ft, so I would guess if you picked up a 125 and 130 that would cover it.

Limpin Lizard,
Hey thanks so much for the information. I will drop by my Suzuki dealer today and pick up a few to experiment with. I will look at the carb. I suspect pulling it off will be easier.

Do you think me running the choke halfway will be eliminated with the jet change? it is all air related....397cc air pump...all the same rules apply. Man I wish these were EFI'd...LOL

I would think that takes care of having to use the choke. EFI is cool, but just like cars, it's usually cheaper and easier to modify the old stuff.

Yeah you are probably right. I am not sure how well all the elctronics will work in areas where people really submerge these things in water and mud. That would be my single largest worry. I like the mechanical days. Can fix on the fly with no real pain.

I may come back with a few more questions

Here's a chart to figure out what jetting you'll need. www.horizonsunlimited.com/tech/carbjet.shtml

OK,
Trying to get back to Eiger next weekend. Went to get jets and dealer asked me a few more questions for which I have no idea about.

1) Is it a Mikuni or Keihn Carb(sp?)

2) Do I need the small round or large round jet?

He asked me to bring the jet in, however the quad is about 250 miles from me right now

Limpin Lizard, any input?Text
