Big Bore Kit for 1987 LT250R
#1
my LT250R blew up a few months ago, so i miked it(micrometer) and i found out that i had 2 more piston sizes to go, but after i had it set up on the mill and started boring it, i started taking only a couple thousandths at a time and kept checking it and the bore was no where near reading 0 when i checked it with a bore indicator, so i took it out to the max piston size and still had the same problem, and i had the thing set up perfect on the mill table, the deck surface read 0 the whole was around and the top of the bore was reading 0, so the place i had it bored out before did a horrible job, and now i have to resleeve the cylinder and i was wondering if anyone made a big bore kit for an 87 LT250R, with just the sleeve, piston kit, and gaskets, like you can get a 240 kit for a blaster from Vito's, cause i don't want to buy a new cylinder and i want more power for it, so i was asking to see if anyone knows who makes one, a guy from LRD emailed me about a 310 kit for a LT that they don't list on their website, but he was telling me all this other stuff to get that totalled more than a 1000 dollars, and all i want it the big bore kit without an aftermarket jug

so what all did the email say you needed?? Im sure your going to have to bore out the cylinder instelf to fit the sleeve in...i heard the stopped listing it because of reliability issues...but what makes a honda 310R more reliable than a suzuki 310R??

this was a while ago, but he was saying about a carb, LRD pipe/silencer, and a bunch of other stuff that i know is not really needed for a bigbore kit, also my Honda 310R is more reliable, but everything is pretty much aftermarket on it, while my LT250R is rigged up from the guy i got it from and it need a serious tear down and go over every part there is on it. I've only seen one LT310R and it was very reliable, i don't know why more companies don't make more aftermarket parts for the LT. people told me they make just as much for the LT as they do for the TRX but they don't list the parts in catalogs or online, and i wonder then how is it going to sell, I'm sure LT owners such as you and myself would love to see more parts made for our Quadracers, i might try emailing some other companies and see what their responses are

I would get in contact with Trinity and Duncan. I think they are the few left still making performance products for the QRs'. I like LRD because of the fact that they are close to me, but I have to question their quality. I only say this because I knew an EX-employee who, well, wasn't exactly what I would call a trustworthy person when it comes to things like this. Although they are under new ownership(aren't they?) and that person no longer works there.

and i just emailed Trinity and Nac's to see if they can come up with anything for me, LRD is a bit too expensive for just a plain old big bore kit, i tried Curtis Sparks, but i don't think they do anything with the LT's
thanks again

i just got an email from someone from Trinity Racing, he said they make a 295cc big bore kit for the LT250's, no word on the price yet, he gave me a number to call and talk to a salesman to see what all kind of parts are needed, he also told me that there are different ways of doing it that will decrease the price.
