Z chain adjuster bolt broke!!!!
#1
Hey,
One of the two chain adjuster bolts at the back of the axle carrier has broken off! There is about maybe half an inch left and i have tried clamping it with vice grips as a hard as i can, but I cant seem to get it to budge, it just spins around the bolt chewing it up. How do you remove this bolt? Does it screw out? Any tips on getting this bolt out?

Take the other bolt out ( the one next to it) If you look under your swinger you will see that there are 2 nuts welded to a peace of metal. Take the other one out ant the broken one will come right out through the bottom. You will have to order a new bolt from the dealer. I have looked every where for one and the dealer is the only place.

From what i understand i think you are thinking about the bolts that tighten it to hold it in position on the swingarm. You are talking about the bolts which go through the top of the swingarm to the bottom correct? The bolt i am talking about is the two at the very back that you use to adjust it after you have loosened the four bolts your are talking about.
Thanks

this has happend to me, except it happend to me at a riding spot 2 1/2 hours away. But ne ways its a pain in the ***, actaully its not that hard at all....... ready for this. YOu have to remove the Axel, Once to there the carrier should pull out if me memory serves correct, then from there you will be able to get to the tighting studs. They do screw in , so you will be able to unscrew it. When it happened to me i couldnt even see the rest of the stud. So like i was saying, You wont find a replacement stud like that, unless you would like to wait for suzuki to find and order it. Go to a Home Depot With the rest of the stud and get a Metal Rod of the type of thread you need double check the threading with the stud you will bring. Measure the leangth of the other stud that is still good, and cut the size of stud you need. Screw the new stud in and your problem is fixed. REMEMBER when you get the Metal Rod of thread make sure its of High Streangth Metal .
