First please turn off the caps! Now, the 88 LT is a nice quad. They are plenty fast and will beat a z400 in a stragiht line drag race if the 250 can get traction. One thing to look out for is cracked swingarms and cracksnear the front shock mounts, other than that they are very reliable when maintained. How much is the bike you are looking at? Any pictures of it?

The LT250R is a 249cc Powervalved 2-Stroke w/ a 6-speed manual. The quad is VERY fast and has a lot of aftermarkey support. it will have no trouble with the Z400!

well i have an '88 LT, pretty much stock, and i absolutely love it. I have had to put alot of money into it though because it was not takin care of before, but its not the bikes fault. Make sure all the bearings, bushings are good, no cracks, good compression...you outta be set then. I cant wait till mine gets back together to see what its like with some nice suspension on it...and just to ride it. I LOVE IT

the LT is another legend to the TRX250R, the 87-92 were the best year's of the suzuki quadracers, but they did have a problem with the frames, they crack at places like Pendejo said and they also crack right by the footpegs, i've never had a cracked swingarm despite every other place that cracked, the 87-92 were all 249cc powervalved 2 strokes with 6 speed transmissions, you won't any problem at all beating a Z400 that's if you can get traction lol....the LT's, TRX's, and Tecate 4's were very powerful machines, with the Tecate4 being on top, LT in 2nd, and TRX in 3rd, but when modded the TRX's are the fastest. The LT's weighed somewhere around 320-330 pounds stock, but can easily be lightened with billet aluminum parts, top speeds were between 70-75 and they will run if not beat a stock Banshee depending on the riders, also LT's are very rare machines depending were you are from, i know in PA where i live the LT250R's are very hard to come by, i just lucked out on mine. And again they will beat a Z400 and will be close, but i doubt beat the 450's.
