As most of you guys know i have a yoshi 450 kit that was done about 4 months ago setting me back 1450.00. The engine was an animal, would beat modded 450' s all day long. So i took it down to Airzona for Christmas vacation, when the last day i was there i pulled sand threw the air filter (Via a hole the size of the end of your pinky that i had to drill for a No2 Manifold ) well i didnt have the manifold on and had the hole taped up. The tape came off and the sand was sucked up threw the filter. NOTHING BUT SILENCE ON THE TOP OF A SAND DUNE AT GORDON WELL DUNES. Sent the Engine to yoshi and they wanted 2000.00 dollars to fix it .Yeah, right i told them to send it to me, and now its going to a engine builder in Tennesse for a rebuild for 1000.00. Reportedly yoshi says i need a new big bore kit, new barrings, two valves , connecting rod, and a new oil pump along with oil seals. Sounds like they were trying to rip me off, i will see the engine in a couple days before i send it to tennesee. Talk about good luck.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

first get a new airfilter so you don't forget about it and but the old one back on

 

Damn, a $1400+ engine for a .01 cent piece of tape. Not fair. If it were me, I would of put the whole damn roll of tape on there. What's the saying...hindsite is 20/20?

Yeah, i have learned my lesson to a sick extent[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif[/img] , but hey you live and learn. "As i mumble profanities under my breath" ..................................... But i have found a Engine rebuilder in Mephis Tennesee called Maximum Performance and he is going to do everything yoshi would of done but have as cheap. I am limited to the places and parts because the 450 kit that yoshi puts on makes it a stroker by 3mm. So Maxium Performance has a kit identical to Yoshi's and is going to do it for 1000.00 half of what Yoshi wanted.

 

Please keep us informed of the motor once you get it back.
I'm curious as to whether the 1000 dollar job is as good as the 2000 dollar job.

It sounds like you mainly pay for the name Yoshi.

 

Yeah it does suck.................. But the motor will be fixed as soon as i get it back from yoshi. Witti you will see me tearing it up at silver lakes when it opens!!

 

I cant wait, Want to see how the new mods (hotcams/base gsaket/39mm FCR) help me out against the 450's.

I plan on opening sunday as my first trip, I think its april 3.
