over the weekend i installed some hotcams intake and exhaust.i went from 2.90 shims all around to 2.75 intake side and 2.70 exhaust side. i was wondering what shims you guys used if any of you have added cams to your z400. also there is a louder cam ticking noise then stock are my shims to small is that why im hearing a louder ticking? is that normal with the aftermarket cams? last thing is when i turn of my engine its almost like it stops right away the piston stops once i turn the key before the piston would crank a few times till it came to a stop is this normal?

 

The cams do make more noise! i hate that. But i found out today that the Hotcams were crap and that they are the same thing as the dirtbike cams. I am pissed, cause i have both hotcams in. I heard that the Webcams are night and day differance, this is from a place who does R&D with Web and hot cams. So i will evently by the web cams suggested.

 

they are not the drz cams there better i know that for a fact because these are the same cams you drop into a drz to get better performance from the cams

 

My hotcams also tick. Yes the hotcam part number is the same for the bike and the quad. Im almost positive one of the DRZ model bikes have the same cams as the quad. Not sure on your piston stoping, never noticed on mine.

 

the cams and valve springs are different so is the carb and gaskets (more compression) also im gonna tear it apart and look over the cylinder to make sure nothing dropped into the engine and slightly scored the piston : /
