Z250 Alba Pipe Install and Outcome.
#1
This message is for all you Z250 owners. My girlfriend has had the 250 for about a year now, has always been happy with the performance and ease of use. Just recentally I purchased a K&N filter, jet kit, and Alba Slip-on for it. It cost me about 400 dollars total, including shipping, for all of it and couldn't be happier. I am 6foot 6inches tall and 280lbs, the bike is surly not for someone my size, but will now hit the rev-limiter in every gear with my big a$$ on it. My girlfriend weighs only 110 (Yeah I know; poor girl) and the difference for her is night and day. I put the new needle on the last clip, turned the fuel screw out 2 3/4 turns and jetted up the main jet to a 134 from the stock 125. You don't have to shift down as often, it has much better throttle response, and accelarates like it never did before. If you love your 250 and want a little x-tra out of it, the alba pipe is the way to go. I have the the alba products on my 400 and have yet to see, hear, or ride a pipe I liked better. Their products fit great, and do wonders for looks and performance. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Did you remove the airbox lid? I know the Alba pipe only calls for a .8 washer/spacer under the needle, and I can't imagine just a filter changing the main THAT much. Also, is that 2 3/4 turns more or 2 3/4 turns from all the way in? Glad, you and her are happy with the pipes, I've been thinking about getting the Alba for a long time.

I thought if I rejetted to optimise for where I ride (sea level etc) and put the K&N on then I would see a small increase in 'go'. Is this just a waste of time and money?

Don't fancy removing the lid cos I ride in mud and water a lot (England!) , how about putting some more vents in there insted? Do these bikes need more air?
I saw some proper aftermarket additional air vents somewhere but cant remember where!

More air is always better. I would go for the outerwear airbox cover or outerwear filter cover. I don't think they make them specifically for the Z250, but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to rig something up or get one thats real close and make it fit. I figured you were from England, because on another thread you spelled tires with a y (tyres) LOL.
