i would have to agree VINNY

handles better, rides the same, but the vinson has almost no body roll. power goes to the vinny, mudding mabey the kodiak 450, just get a 300$ gearless locker for the vinny, and never look back. gc- idk if the kodiak really has good clearance, the kodiak is tippy/ alot of body roll just like the grizz. trail riding goes to the vinny hands down the vinny is the better bike for the trails. overall i say get a vin, power handles and DURABILITY, are big things dont over look them.

I'll have to agree with 581

all he said is true. Personally i dont even have a locker on my vinson and it rocks we play in alot of snow here, and I can follow any ATV in the snow, and of course easily get ahead of sport quads on snowy trails

581 nailed 'er. Glad to see you have "new-found faith" in the Vinson(s) Pepete! The Kodi' is a good machine, but it isn't in the same class as the Vinson. They'd never be tested against eachother. Someone would be screaming "foul"!

2005 Vinson 500 vs. 2005 Kodiak 450 IRS

1. Mudding - Kodiak due to IRS
2. Ground Clearance - Kodiak due to IRS
3. Speed - Vinson hands down
4. Trail Ridding - Both are good, but Vinson is more stable due to SRA and peppier motor.
5. Overall performance - Both perform well, but again, the Vinson had the edge.

If I were chosing between these two quads, I would chose the Vinson.......Very good motor, nice stable ride and very good quality. The kodiak is very good to, but there are a few things that I don't care fore.....ie: I do not like the speedometer readout on the other side of the handle bars......very bad design makes it harder to see the LCD when the handle bars are turned. Motor is good, but not as pippy as I would have expected. Overall, both are very good quads, but I give a slight edge to the Vinson. Just my thoughts.....

i also forgot to mention, that the vinson motor is smoother, and has less vibration.

4xzuki- after riding my vinny in the snow storms on the roads, in 4x4 doing about 60, averageing 45mph, there is really no other bike i would rather be on, granted all the problems i have had, hands down if i wanted another 500 bike it would be a vinny, but i would get a 5spd to mix things up, having a auto and a 5spd would be really nice!

581-I agree. Those problems you've had were MOSTLY self inflicted though! I wouldn't mind having a 5 gear either. I do like that auto, though. When we were on the Reader's Ride in WV, we (the sport/fast-editors, tec.) were railing for 3 solid days. I mean serious ***** out flat-f-in' haulin'! 9+ solid hours everyday. The only problem I had was my radiator got clogged (I've since fab'ed a solution). I really expected to be worn out. You know what? The only thing that got tired (besides my brain!) was my neck from holding the helmet steady. The Vinson is that comfortable. I rode my buds Prairie a little, and was impressed (as I am every time I ride that thing) at its power. But, I'd rather stay on my Vinson. I'm going to try the KQ out for an extended ride coming up. I'm not selling the Vinson, just testing the KQ on our turf.
