vinson vs. kodiak 450
#11
my frame, and shifter, digital display, and motor mount breaks were not my fault, they were because of faulty/ poor material in the 2002 model years, the cv joints yes they were my fault....from extream jumping and wheelieing, all the time.....
the lift is a 2" by highlifter products. RIGHT HERE and thank you for the compliment. in all honesty the lift makes the vinny ride a little harsher, just because of angles, but oh well beats getting stuck, i got the 400ex for speed, and comfy ride, and the rm 250 for cloud like suspension and flat out indy car speed.

Wheelie? Stock? No. I, like 581, ride *****-out most of the time, so all of my shocks are set at "full stiff". We're still working on getting those shocks to test, 581. I'll let you know how it comes out.

Mudding: Kodiak, IRS= more ground clearance+ the differential lockmake the Kodiak better for mud
Ground clearance: Kodiak is the winner because of the IRS
Speed: Vinson Manual or auto, it doesn't matter both will dust the Kodiak
Trail riding: It depends on what you want. If you like to blast down the trail at a good clip, power sliding in the turns, and letting her rip on the straight aways, the Vinson is your quad. If you want a nice, smooth, laid back ride at a little slower pace, the Kodiak is your quad.
Overall performance: This one is a toss up also. Both are great quads. Its a tie here.

i really would like to get shocks for the vinny, but i cant seem spending almost 2000$ on elka's or such....... works are alright i guess, but arent valved that well, they are made for too broad ranges of aplications. to me i would rather get some peps or something off ebay for my 400ex and get em revalved and have a set of tripple rate rezzi peps for about 450$.
now that brings me to my next thought, 300ex shocks (aftermarket of course) seem as if they are the similar length ,now my question would be being the 300ex weights about 350 lbs + and my vinny prolly weights 800lbs+ so what weight would i need to get them valved for? hmmm..... now the guessing game begins. if i find some on ebay i am gonna buy them if they are cheap enough, and if they work great, if not then i will just sell them back on ebay..

I just got back from riding this weekend, and learned the fine art of riding a wheelie on my Vinny...it just takes a stronger pull on the bars than my honda, but the balance point is fairly to find.
Now, I will be adding some new skidplates/armor, and some 26 Mudlites, so that may change.
Of course, I'm riding a 5-speed, so that may be the difference from you auto-guys

i would also go with the vinson cause i own one already and i love it. also i havent had anything wrong with it since i owned it. maintaining it is the key. my neighbor owns the kodiak 450 and he hates it so much. he has more problems with it than any other fourwheeler. so when he moved to missouri he traded it in and got a honda foreman. and he has nothing wrong with that at all. i think he will be sticking with the hondas until he rides the vinson. my vinson is a 2003 red one. i just dont have it posted on my thing yet. cause i am new as of today
