Boring over doesn't give you power. It makes the sleeve thinner. The only worthwhile overbore is to have the fins bored and a new larger sleeve pressed in. Even if you bored it .060 over it wouldn't make a big difference in displacement. VincesCycle.com is a good source for common replacement parts. A full restoration will be costly. And it will still be substandard to todays new sports bikes. I've been in the same boat, and dumped too much money into something that is still not at the head of the pack.

You have to pick where you want the most of your power. You can't have it all. I'd build up the low-mid range since you are getting a Raptor. I'd get a mild cam, 3 angle valve job, pipe, and a better air filter, and call it a day. If crossing rivers I'd extend the crank breathers, and get some dialectric grease in the pulg boot, and all connectors.

The 3 angle valve job, is when the machine the sealing surface of the valve in 3 different angles, instead of a single flat angle. What Mikuni carb do you have? Swapping carbs, and getting them set up correctly isn't an easy task. I liked the Dg RCM, but that was the only pipe i had, besides stock, and stock with the baffle removed. With a pipe, and Air filter, and a full top end, Probably under $400
