The Eiger is a fine machine for the money.Reliable and simple. One other thing Vin581 did not list (but had everything else) was that the Vinson was water cooled. The Eiger is air cooled with an oil cooler.I too almost bought a Vinson but I road a Prairie and was hooked.Like someone else said......now that the Brute Force 650 is out the Vinson is IMO not really a bargin. For the same money why not get the 650 v-twin,front locker already installed (factory) and the BF has a sealed rear brake.I have 1300 miles on mine and have never touched the brakes.
Good luck

i also forgot to mention 4 WHEEL HYDROLIC DISK BRAKES, the eiger has a drum in the rear, that alone i hate, drum brakes never work and make me pretty mad to clean them..

I bought the Vinson because I too am 6'1" and 275 lbs, so I felt I needed the extra power. Also I think the Vinson looks alot cooler than the Eiger. The Eiger has a Cyrano Deburgerac kind of look with the nose sticking way out in front of the wheels. A friend of mine has an Eiger that he let me ride before I bought my Vinson, and to me, it felt kind of doggy. I'd say go with the Vinson and you won't go wrong. Plus I think you can get the Vinson for less than you think.

Thank you all.

A friend of a friend has an Eiger so I was able to take a quick spin yesterday and actually it seems to have all the power I would need, of course it was around the block at 40 mph. I contacted the dealer just now and he is going to look for a Vinson as they sold their last one this past weekend. If he can find one local and if the price is right, I may go with the Vinson.

I will know tomarrow what the prospects are.

Thanks again!

If you can find a Vinson to take a test ride on, do it. You will be impressed. It's quick and nimble and has a great fun factor. The one thing about power is, it's addicting. And once your addicted, then you can never have enough.

The vinnie has way more power. I don't ride my buddies p650 because I know it would ruin my eiger experience. The eiger has plenty of power and the features I like but if yer used to a 650 then a 400 will be doggy at best.

Just paid for the 2005 Vinson and will pick it up next Monday. I wanted a red one, automatic and none in town so it is 150 miles away, it will be trucked here no later then Monday.

I appreciate the input from all.....................

GET THE EIGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a newbie you'll have more power than ya can stand. The Vinnie may overwhelm ya and hurt ya. After a couple years you may want to move up.
The auto is an incredible machine. At 6'2" 250lbs I run in the woods with bigger quads all the time. They run away from me on the roads and in the big fields but as you say, theres no real need to run 60mph (the eiger will run 55!). Save the over $1000 to get some accessories, heated grips, clutch kit, 26" tires, hand guards, and you will have a machine that will last the rest of yer life and will do anything you want except 60mph.

(I posted this response for any other riders out there considering the same options, however if ya got the opportunity, you shoul really consider the 650 Brute Force.)
