Default 1986 lt250r any good

HI, My friend was telling me about his older guy who have's a 1986lt250r for sell or trade and he said he want's something slower. He said he want 700.00 for it and it run's good, but if it is ilding it will fall into gear. Is that a hard fix? But he may trade me my 230 for it and he said it's a nice quad should I go for it. I want to look at it soon.. thank's

Frame is (kind of) a weak point... although not really.

Swingarm is definetly a weak point. (crack prone)

Other than that, good reliable machines.
My brother has a mint 1986 LT250 that has been 100% reliable over the past 3-4 years.
Blown head gasket right when he got it. It had been sittin for years and we were in a hurry and overlooked checking the coolant before
taking her for a spin. We learned the hard way. Other than that, and the current cracked swingarm, it has not had a single other problem
in 3-4 years.

Keep in mind that you might have to split the cases to fix the shifting problem.
