z400 or 400ex
#14
Im going to have to vote for the Z400. Two of my best friends have these quads. one has a 400ex and the other has a Z400. I own neither so im nutral and have test driven both quite extensively. Both of them are great quads for trail riding and having some fun so heres a little info on each
400ex. Ok the honda is air cooled, which is a negative. Its light in the front end which makes it a wheelie machine and it does have a very light weight feeling to it. Stock for stock its power is no match for the Z's power. We ride the woods and i get to mock my friend all the time for not having reverse. yes that helps make it light weight but if you ride woods you may find you use reverse much more often then you would think.
Z400. The Z is liquid cooled which is a definate plus. Its power, even stock is quite good and it just feels like each gear is endless. It keeps revving when you think its going to be done you have half a gear left. It has consistent power throughout all of the gears at all RPMs. It does have reverse and I thought it handled excelent. When i drove both they were in stock trim. Personally I like the way the Z looks better as well.
