maybe its the valves
#1
I have an 03 Z-400 that is very difficult to start. To start it, I need to hook it up to a truck and pull start it, but after its warm, I can just push start it myself. The battery is dead, but even when hooked up to a jump starter, it wont run. Also, it only runs well on the Primary setting on the fuel tank. When i set it to on, it sputters and eventually stalls, even if i am applying the gas. Also, at idle, i can hear a noticable tapping noise that seems to be coming from the engine. I think that it may be a valve problem, but im not sure. Also, can anyone send me a link to a site or tell me who sells service manuals for 03 Z-400's for the cheapest price?
Thanks alot

sounds like the fuel petcock is really dirty inside. remove it from the tank and have it cleaned.
as for the noise it could be valves or a lose timing chain
and sounds like you have bad electical problem to work with. you should fix this first
