Buy the service manual first and then make sure you have all the right tools. I do mine just about every 40-50 hours I ride.

I took it in for service after the first 20 hours and they said it was fine. The valves were still to spec. After that they put up the price of labor to 145.00 an hour so I bought the manual and have done it myself since.

I rode mine for about 2 years and never had to adjust them. I did have to adjust them when I changed cams.

What will happen if you don't get them adjusted? And how do you know if they need to be adjusted? MY head makes this funny ticking sound ever since I put my WB slip-on exhaust on. Whats with that?

That ticking could be your valves. It's not good if you don't adjust them. I do more checking that adjusting them.
