Hello. What do you think was the best year for the Suzuki LT250R Quadracer (85-92)? Suzuki LT500R Quadzilla (87-90)?

 

In both cases, get the latest model you can find, there are too many reasons to list as to why, just trust me. Also, the 500 was only made from 87-90.

 

I had a 92 and you could see all the subtle changes over the years, with Frame gusseting and and others, I agree with No2stroke

 

for the zilla, the 87's had a bit more power because of the larger intake, but did have some problems with blowing headgaskets

 

the 91 and 92 lt250r's had better suspension than 85-89. 87 lt250r had the fastest motor,but it was unique to that yeah so its hard to find aftermarket parts for. i would say a 92 250 or a 90 500

 

Actually the 87 shares almost all of the same parts as the 88+ motor.... the only thing you might have trouble finding is an aftermarket reedcage.

although most people say the 87's are the fastest, i would not buy one personally. The 87 Zilla's had a lot of troubles with the head gaskets and such. The 87 250R didnt have many problems, but i have heard that for the 250 it actually has too big of an intake...all the velocity goes to crap and doesnt flow as well as the later models. That is just what i have heard because i have never rode an 87. For drag racing i would say they might be better because of the crazy port jobs that are done on drag engines and the monster intake may be nice, but for low end i would say the later models have the advantage.

 

I heard the 1987250 quadracer was the best year because of intake. I had the 1988 and my daughter had the 1986. Also I think earlier years had one less gear in transmission , four speed instead of five speed? We now have a couple of quadracer relics we picked up, might put together someday. Earlier quadracers had four lug nuts on rear wheels, later years had five lugnuts.

 

For the 250's 85-6 are 5 speed and 87-92 are 6 speed. All 500's are 5 speed.
