Well don't get me wrong, it's no Warn or Ramsey. It's got this big-***-gimp-like yellow controller that looks like the controls to a hoist in a factory, but that shouldn't be hard to replace. Hell, even if it only lasts one year, you could buy 6 for the price of one Warn.

I seen them at cosco up here in Canada too .. if I had a need for one I'd buy it .. or if I had a 12V system installed in my Garage .. be a good lift mechanism ... hmmmmm .. might have to look into that

It wouldn't be hard, make a mounting plate to bolt to your the rafters or joist in your garage ceiling. Instead of wiring it in, wire it to two jumper cable clamps. Just hook leads up to the battery of w/e your trying to hoist and away you go. Of course, how safe is a winch to use as a hoisting device? If your crawling under something please use jackstands.

That was certainly something that stuck into my mind since winches are not power out-feed are they?? I dont' know as I've never used one. My meaning is, if you have a load on the winch when you've finished lifting and turn it off .. will the winch drop the load?

Also .. I would only use something like that for lifting something that's small, but heavy .. I wouldn't use it as a supporting mechanism .. say like a quad lift (already got a hydraulic one of those). I'd use it to say, lift the motor out of the quad and place it on a bench. Ideally I'd like the winch to be on a mono-rail setup so I could use it for transporting the load from the equipment to the bench ..

Always though .. in life as in construction .. work safe!!

The brand is Champion out of CA. 49ft 3/16 cable, 2000lb winch w/1 year warranty. The controller is very large and cumbersome. I haven't figured out how or where I'm going to put it. It came with the block and tackle for double the capacity of the winch. It definately is not a Warn or Ramsey winch!
I think I will use velcro to attach the controller to the body somewhere? I just have not figured this out yet.
