Default Shock Covers...do they really do anything???

Hey, I got shock covers for my wolverine because they look cool but I was wondering, How much do they really do for your shocks. I was thinking of getting a pair for my Quadzilla. Do they really extend the life of your shock. Do they serve a purpose other then style??

Yes, but if you are in the mud a long time they will hold the mud and water inside, so take them off for those conditions.

yes they help alot. and like reconranger said you need to remove them once in a while to clean and check the shocks for damage

If you get mud and crap on your shocks, and then it hardens, and then you use the suspension, there is good possibility of causing seal leaks due to grit on the fork scraping the seal......

The shock covers will keep most of the crap off the shock tubes.....It's also possible to effect shock perfomance, not letting the thing stretch and compress as easily, but I think that might be minimal effect. I do agree that you need to remove them and wash them and the shocks from time to time and let them air out.....
