Hey everyone. I met this guy that put a Yamaha 450 carb on his predator and he said it worked awesome especially because the 450 carb has an accellerator pump. I was wondering if anyone out there has tried that on the Z400. He said if I wanted, he could get me a 450 carb for around $250.00. The 450 carb is a bigger mm carb than the Z I believe too. What do you think?

 

I have one on mine. Its a tough fit, you will need to relocate or remove the black oil collector box, which will cause a whole list of other problems, but it works EXCLELENT!
You will need the whole thumb throttle and cable, or a custom cable made for you. A good shop should be able to make a cable for pretty cheap.
$250 is a good price.

 

A lot of people on another site use the carb off the YFZ450 (39mm fcr). My carb is not off from a YFZ450 so Im not sure this cable is the same. This is the cable that I used. Works with the stock throttle assembly.
Also you will need to run with the petcock on prime. Unless you take the plate off behind the selector ****. Then you grind the little stop off that keeps the selector from pointing straight foreward. Put it back togather, with the **** pointing foreward fuel will be ON, with the **** up or down fuel will be off, with the **** pointing back fuel will be on reserve.
