head gasket for 87 lt250r
#1
Hi, I have 87 lt250r that I just rebuilt, my question is I have a new head gasket and that does not have the coolant port holes all the around it. Is this the right? If it is the right gasket which way does it go on the cylinder? Thanks for the help.

if its a stocker it should have an "e" stamped on it,then that goes towards the front.i know the smaller coolant holes point to the front.some of the coolant lines are blocked to redirect more coolant to hotter areas.

Its not a stock gasket so it does not have the E stamped in it. My old gasket did not have any ports blocked off in it so I was wondering if I got the wrong gasket in the kit. It is also 1mm smaller in bore than I need. I have the cylinder bored .120 over, does anyone know what gasket I would need for it. Thanks again for all the help.

Some of the ports are supposed to be blocked, look at where the coolant hose is attached and align the blocked ports underneath it. However you won't be able to use the gasket any way if the gasket bore is that much smaller because the gasket will stick out causing it to get red hot and either the gasket will fail, or pre-ignition will result possible ruining the bore and piston.
You can buy oversized gaskets somewhere.
