I bought a used 2003 z400 it will start when i give it any amount of gass it dies i have played with the choke i do not know what is wrong it rode fine yesterday any help would be appreciated, thanks.

 

it might be flooded...just let it sit for a bit...also the battery might be dead or just about dead - also look if its on RES (reserve of course..) ON or PRI --- left side by the front fender --- put it on ON if its on anything else, gas is another thing, but im sure u checked that...also make sure ur doing it right...im not tryin to make fun or say u dont know how to rde a quad bcuz u clearly did yesterday as u said...but just in case make sure its in nuetrel =P and that ur holdin the clutch and press start...and then release...get back to me if nothing works

 

whats the spark plug look like?if you played with the choke to much you fouled the plug. maybe set the idle up too

 

What you explained is what happens when a jet is plugged.
Clean the carb and I think you'll go just fine.

Ive had the same problem with my banshee.Its just the spark plug. Well mine never died it could be ur carb too.. Clean them both and see

 

Checks the spark plug and it will probably help to clean ur carb

 

Clean out your carb and check the spring on your choke cable. They tend to get stuck on stock carbs. I have had to fix min twice already. I just ordered a new fcr for mine to help eliminate that problem and help wake up the beast.
