Just bought an 05 Eiger
#1
Hey everyone this is my 1st post here. Hope I will find a lot of use full info.
So I bought an 05 auto Eiger this weekend. Only been able to ride it up and down the street so far but I love it. The main use of it will be for hunting and hopefully trail riding. I ordered a Warn winch and soft luggage for the back rack. My question to everyone is this. What do I need to know about the Eiger? Should I be aware of anything? Should I buy anything else for it to make my life easier? Any help or tips would be great. Oh and about how far can I figure on going on a tank of gas? Thanks guys for any help. Clayton

Had mine for about a month now and I really don't think there is anything major to worry about on the Eiger. Don't know about the gas mileage, I haven't had a chance to test it. I think a good idea would be to put some Mud Lites on it, thats probably what I'm going to do.

put a fuel filter on it...don't know if this is a problem on the 05's but on the other models they get crud in the carb....i got mud lights and love them...can pull through just about anything...very good machine

Just bought the same machine for my wife, we went about 140 miles this last weekend (Friday thru Sunday) and got about 25 mpg with the Eiger on a combination of roads and ATV trails. She really likes it, but says it rides a little rougher than her old 1991 Polaris 350L. Might be looking into replacing the rear shocks with adjustable ones, if they are available. One thing we did notice is that you have to be sure you have it shifted solidly into gear and locked (button on shifter all the way out), or it will "jump into gear" and scare the crap out of ya! Hope this helps!

I have notice on mine that the fuel gauge is kinda off....I can fill it up and it will show full....but this past weekend we rode around 50 miles or so....when i got back....it was still on full....Once it starts to move though...it really drops....I have never rode all the gas out to the point i had to use the reserve....but others have said it gets around 20 or mpg....but in my case....i went 50....(hard miles too...running it full throttle, up hills) and it was still on full....It should have been closer to half....I might be getting more than 20....who knows.....anyway my point is.....You shouldnt have to worry about gas mileage for a while.

.........You've got a good rig there, Clayton.
I have an 03 Eiger that I've had since new and now have 1700 miles on it.......trouble free.
Do all the things that should be done........regular service etc.
Mileage on mine has varied from 15 to 30 mpg...........it all depends on load and terrain.
My quad is part of a search and rescue unit........and consequently see's every imaginable riding condition.
Take care of it and you'll have no complaints.
