Simple question. I have always the quad racers and know how fast they are, but how much faster is the zilla? Low end, mid, top end differences. I have been looking for awile in my area, MA for a zilla but unable to find one at a reasonable price. What is the going $ on these.
Thanks Mike

well ive ridden a zuki 250 quadracer but never a quadzilla but lets look at the facts. the 250 is a beast and super fast with a light frame and only 250cc's the zilla is has a super light frame and i 500cc engine. its gotta kick the pi$$ out of the 250 in everything but handling
]

just my opinion

The Quadzillas are INSANELY STUPID FAST!!! My one riding buddy has a '90 500 & it blows away my Banshee in a straight line. I have ridden it numerous times & they are fun as hell. They aren't as light as one may think either. Physically they are a big machine. Their size makes them feel slower than what they really are also. You don't realize how fast you are accelerating or going until you have to slow down.

my 500 will kill my 250. but the 250 is just so much lighter than the 500, much easier to move around. the zilla is all bottom end and revs no where near as high as a 250.

do you look in the want ad theres always a few in there. in the ma. area. prices anywhere from $2000 to $3500.

I own a few bone stock zilla's and an 87 Lt250 which is ported and quite a bit faster than a stock Lt250. My stock zillas will walk over my modded 250 in any race that is won with power and not skill. Basically, anything except MX. Actually, with my inexperienced 250lb butt, it will even beat it in that category simply because it's wider and saves me when I screw up a jump. But for most normal size people with decent skills, the 250 would be a better choice for MX.

As for the weight of a Zilla, surprisingly, the dry weight is only 392 lbs which is just a few pounds heavier than a Banshee. They look heavy because their so long and wide, but they're actually very light for how big they are. Granted, they're quite a bit heavier than the LT250 but remember that the LT250 was the lightest of all the 250 2 stroke racing quads, even in the later years when the LT gained weight. Compare a zilla to a similarly sized quad like the DS650 (actually, even the DS650 isn't quite as wide in the front as a zilla, although the rear axle is wider), and the zilla is nearly 100 lbs lighter. It's lighter than a Raptor and Predator which aren't nearly as wide or long. In my opinion, the reason their deceptively fast is because of their larger size. I know it's easy to get yourself in trouble in a hurry if you're not careful on one.

Price of a Zilla really depends on condition. I've seen ratty ones sell for less than $2000. Descent one's will bring $2000 - $3500. An absolute mint stock one will bring $4000 - $5000, and that price seems to be going up. A very nice highly modded one with lots of goodies will bring $3500 - $4500, possibly a lot more if it's a completely worked over drag machine.
