05 Eiger buzzing noise
#14
I searched the past posts and there is mention of these units making some noise. I really can't lift it up as I just had a shoulder reconstructed 5 weeks ago. Maybe when I get that baby on the trailer some day, I'll stop in and let em hear it for themselves.
By the way, i am going to install an inline fuel filter.... any special one that might fit better than others? I have 3... 2 clear and one metal. The one that looks like it would be the best fit is for lawn mower ad small engines and is made by Briggs and Stratton.
I have an 01 King quad that I bought with 41 miles on it and at 50, the carb gummed up. I wonder if that wasn't crap from the tank too, like the eigers are getting.

How can they tell you it's normal when they didn't hear it themselves?? That's BS! Any dealer that will diagnose a problem without hearing it for himself is just being lazy. He should have asked you to bring it in. If there's something wrong, and it sounds like there is, keep on them until it's fixed. You don't want it to give out the day after the warranty is up.
Putting an inline fuel filter in is just a waste of time. It sure won't hurt anything but it's not addressing the real problem. There's a filter in the tank on the petcock. The dirt that people are getting in the carb is from the poor fitting air filter, not the gas. I'd bet your next pay check on that

The inline filter is a great idea. I had dirt in my float bowl that was causing all sorts of problems. I don't know how dirt could get in the float bowl from a poor fitting air filter? My Eiger also makes the grinding sound that Sircasey is talking about. It's done it for the last 2000 miles. I got used to it.

Thanks for the advise. What filter are you guys using? Any certain number, or just a good in-line car filter? I do believe that dirt get through because my KQ had plugged up jets after only 40 miles.
I would suppose that after my shoulder heals, (they say in 1 1/2 more months), I'll get to riding the new Eiger and I'll get used to the noise too. If not, I have a 2 year warranty with this one.
