97 King Quad help
#1
I just picked up a 97 King Quad for my Dad. I have a few questions about this machine:
1. how do you check the oil level and know when to add more? I see a fill plug at the back, but no dip stick.
2. Three of the front CV boots are torn, both inners and one outer. The grease looks good inside, so it hasn't been contaminated with dirt and water (yet). Anyone know of a good place to order just the boots for it?
All else fails, I found this site:
http://216.37.204.206/xtremepowerspo...e=13&A=71&B=45
that has the boots, but since it also comes with some additional stuff, I was hoping I could find them a bit cheaper in aftermarket.
Thanks.

Oh okay, found it. So do I just keep adding oil to the level get's to the top of the sight glass? Seems to be at or above it right now.
I found a few different sites late last night that sell replacement boots: www.187rideeasy.com , www.atvfan.com , and www.atvworks.com Price for universal fit boots range from $18-25 ea. Have a note into 187rideeasy to see if their universal "fast boots" are compatible with this '97 KQ.
Thanks for the help.

on the engine block there should be marks that tell you what the oil level in the glass should be. at least thats how it was on my old zuki 185
as for boots i dont know enough about them to tell you if umiversal one would fit but i do know enough to know that universal means anything. but there are always exceptions. i would try rockymoutainatv or dennis kirk like kerbbirds said they seem to have almost anything

There is a sight glass on the side of the case with marks on the case itself to indicate full or add. Pour it in slow and keep an eye on it, it'll go overfull fairly easy.
For the axle boots I am thinking I bought just the rubber boots through Dennis Kirk before, your local suzuki dealer could order them in also. Make sure you put new clamps on when installing them.
Might be good idea to check/clean your air filter also, never know how dirty it is and it could save you some problems in the future.

Thanks for the tips. I ended up ordering replacement boots from the good guys at Xtreme Suzuki (www.187rideeasy.com). Got a great price on 4 of them and fast shipping, so they'll get here quick.
I took a look at the air filter and it looks like it was just cleaned. The engine/trans oil was honey colored, so I think that was recently changed also. I'll probably get a filter and just change the oil again just to make sure though.
Thanks again for the help.
