Default serial # / production date

I am currently shopping for a new KingQuad and have noticed folks referring to "magic" serial numbers. As the 2006 models are not due out for a couple months, I will be buying a 2005 model. What production issues should I be concerned with? Is there a serial number where changes in production were made?

Some of the smaller dealers are willing to sell for less, but they turn far fewer machines and may still be marketing early stock.

Please advise before I drop 7 grand. THANKS!

There is a VIN# you can find by searching on this forum of which they began putting updated reverse parts on them. The average user is not likely to lose their reverse though, because it requires severe abuse.

RedGoblin, thanks for the post and information!
I searched for "reverse" and "king" using the search engine and came up empty. Do you remember how long ago it was discussed?
Is the quality of reverse parts the only improvemnt Suzuki made during the 2005 production run?
I looked at the specs for the 2006 and it looks like nothing other than cosmetic changes. Anyone have information to the contrary?

A VIN of JSAAP41A_52115956 or higher gets you the updated reverse parts.

A search of "King" and "Vin" in the suzuki forums.

From This Post.

They probably have the bugs worked out for 2006, but they don't want to say that because naturally they don't want to admit there were any to begin with.
