My friends chain broke on his z400 and it busted the crank case. Is there any way to fix this? How much does a new one cost and where can i find them? Thanks.

 

that almost happened to me.. except my chain fell off because it was too loose.. not because it broke. i am also wondering what to do it the crank case broke...

 

you can buy the whole crank case which is over 500 or the cover which is still over 100 if it was mine id put some jb weld on it n ride it but he wants it to look good so he wants to put another one on it

 

this happend to my first z-400, i turned that basterd into insureance. But is its very exspensive when this happens. Did he have a case saver on?? I am using nothing right know for a case saver but today i think i am going to order one.

The same thing happened to my friends z a few weeks before I bought mine. Before I rode mine, I bought a $100 d.i.d. chain and an after market case saver with new sprockets. He bought a new case and while he was at it, he put in a dome top piston, hot cams, and had the head ported and polished. He broke his arm on it this past Saturday [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif[/img].

 

it looks like he is going to have to buy a new case i think its unrepairable because it is cracked where the gear shifter goes into the case. any ideas on where to get one at?

 

Unless you guys know someone who works for a dealer, I would just shop around online. My friend bought one through a friend who works at artic cat.
