Blinking EFI Light....
#1
Well this is very disappointing. Went on the first true ride on the new King today with two buddies; one Honda Foreman 450 ES and a Yamaha Kodiak 450. Needless to say, I was blowing them away and absolutely loving the power from the 700 EFI. That is.......until we pulled back into my friends driveway to get something cold to drink and the quad just died at about 10mph. Turned the key off and then back on and the EFI light was blinking. You can crank and crank and crank some more on the starter, but it won't fire up. I really wasn't riding that abusively at all. SOME water, SOME mud and SOME racing, other than that just humming through the trails. They were all giving me crap about having a Suzuki and that pisses me off because I know it's a better machine than that. Can anyone offer me any assistance? It's going right back to the dealership we bought it from just yesterday, tomorrow afternoon. From what I've heard, it'll be a new ECM which BETTER be covered by the warranty. What scares me the most is.......why is the ECM even going bad in the first place? Maybe they can start putting 2006 ECMs in them in a month or so and eliminate the problems altogether if it goes bad again.

I think the ECM's are garbage that they put together in a few weeks to cover up the reverse issue ASAP. My first new ecm would sputter and pop after I put it in when ever I hit a good size bump. I've seen about 10 reports of ecm's failing... so your not the first. Seems to be the new ones slapped together for the reverse issue that are croaking so easy.... have them change it out!

Well, she's running fine again. The thing that still upsets me is that it's running.......on the pre-recall ECM. The dealership installed the ECM with the built-in reverse limiter right before we bought the bike and that's the one that croaked. I'm now running the "old" ECM without the reverse limiter, which won't matter for me anyway because I won't use reverse that extremely. They are sending me a brand new ECM WITH reverse limiter, but who says it won't get fried just like the other "new and improved" one did? When that one comes, I'm supposed to send the old tried and true one I'm running now back to the dealer so they can in turn send it to Suzuki, but I hope they forget about it and I'll have a backup with me on the trails in a zip-lock baggy

When you get a good one, I think your set for a while anyway... it seems the problems come up quick on the bad ECM's....it could be that some of them are not packed with enough silocone...and vibration and such kill them off.... just guessing...
