05 Eiger power
#1
Hey guys. A little over a month ago I got an 05 Eiger 4x4 auto. So far I love the thing. Seems like it will be great for trail ridding and hunting. One thing I have noticed is that it doesn't seem to have a lot of get up and go power. Granted it's not for racing but I was wondering if there is anything I can do to put a little more pep in its step. I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks guys. Buy the way this is my first quad so I don't know jack about them. Thanks again.

If EPI or Dalton makes a clutch kit for it, have at it. These increase acceleration and sometimes can lengthen belt life as well. The classic pipe/jets/filter combination is always a winner as well. If there's a cam available for it, that would REALLY wake it up, but that's a fairly major mod in comparison to the aforementioned. Other than that, I do not know because I've never really looked into the Eiger that much. From what I've heard, great machine though!

.......I put a K & N on my 03 Eiger and it seemed to give it a small boost......don't expect a lot.
This is a very good quad right out of the box.........be careful not to screw up a good thing.
If you get a K & N, get the cleaning kit with it..........and maintain it. You won't have any problems.
I just turned 2000 miles.

......heh Lizard....I see you have a Ramsey wireless on your rig. I've got the same.....wondering how you like yours.
I've used mine numerous times and really like the unit.
Ont thing I did that REALLY make it a complete setup was switch to synthetic winch line........Amsteel Blue. It is much lighter, stronger by about 1200 lbs in the same diameter and is much safer........no retained energy to cause it to whip if it breaks........and it does not "splinter".
There is not much downside to it......unless you lay it across a fire......then you are sol !
Thought you might be interested.

CJ, w/ the pipe and filter I went up to a 135. It's easy enough to read the plug to see how you're running to go up or down.
Hollywood, love the winch. Luckily I've only used it to pull a friend out and to do work around the house, but I'm sure my time is coming to get stuck... I was thinking about switching to the synthetic, that's what I like about the remote is staying out of the way in case the cable snaps. Glad to hear you're happy w/ it. Where did you order from?

........Liz......got the synthetic from Okoffroad.com
Good folks to work with.
You should consider an aluminum hauser to replace the roller fairlead if you switch over. The roller can tend to abrade the synthetic..........if you research the synthetic online, it's recommended and explained.
I think you'll really like the stuff...........real easy to use.........1/6 th the weight also.

Yeah, synthetic rules. For a while I was selling Amsteel Blue winch cables (UHMWPE 'Cable') for full size rigs, and it's nothing short of amazing. I mean, stronger than steel cable, and it FLOATS! Can't beat that.

Oh yeah, about Eiger Power...
If you read what I've done to mine, you can see there are quite a few things you can do to squeeze more HP out of 400cc's. This weekend I was at the dunes, and before my 36mm carb/intake/jetting mods I would climb the steepest dunes in 2nd gear high range. NOW, I've gained a FULL GEAR climbing even the steepest dunes. (that means 3rd gear now) Also, top speed on the sand, aired down to 1.5psi was about 42mph, now it's 50. I'm VERY happy with my situation now.
