Default 86 LT250R Questions plz help me out

I thought the motor was based off the pre 85 RM250 dirt bikes. They look really similar

I guess the second generation was based on the RM250 but the first generation was based on a trail bike I believe... I used to know this one... I have totally forgoten. it wasn't the RS series I don't think... they were free air... The TS series must be too old and also free air... which leaves...? i have no idea.

thanks for any help. Sincerely, Justin.

The RH series is what the 85-86 LT250R are based on.

85 - 85 also common with the TS 200 / 250 trail bike engines, upside is that you can build a 200cc class water cooler with the LT chassis that fair kicks a blasters butt.

87 on LT is based loosely on the 86 RM.

weird. weird. weird. Those are two bikes that I just didn't think it would share parts with. not to mention they're basically complete opposites.

now, when I look up the RH series on google and suzukicycles.org or offroad.com it comes up with total works race bikes. weird.

the TS250 to my knowledge was never liquid cooled but I guess the crank, piston and rod could always be the same. I can only get SAE dimensions of the bore and stroke of the TS and I don't feel like converting them and comparing them to the rough numbers I have for first gen LT for nothing right now so I'll just leave it as a mystery.

we got a water cooled TS 200 and 250 trail bike version here in NZ ?? maybe never made it to the US like the watercooled DT200's on which the blaster engine is based.

The 78 RH 250 was very similar to the RM 250 C model in port timing except the RH had a oval shaped exhaust port and the RM had a bridged one. Also the RH had a milder intake port timing. The port timing for the 85-86 LT 250 engines are way different than the 78-RH or RM 250C bikes although the port layout for the RH is similar to the 85-86 Lt.
