Ok I just bought a 1986 LT250R and i have a few questions about it. What is that cover for right above the front sprocket on the left case and I am not talking about the ignition cover it is missing on my bike. Is there a way to wire up some type of aftermarket lights up? Like fog lights for a car or something? Anyone know any good websites with info about LT250R's? Any good places to get cheap plastic for it?

 

You can get a service manual here. You can wire up lights, just have to find a hot wire, and it depends on condition of your stator. This is an excellent place for information, just not from me personally on what you need. Maier makes plastics for your bike, depends on what you call cheap. Here's a link. Try ebay maybe. You could also google an atv salvage yard. There's an atv salvage yard near Mineral wells I believe, but I don't know where Chester, WV is so I don't know if you're close or not. If it's missing could you be meaning the case saver cover that wraps around the front sprocket? The should be a mounting hole a 1/3rd way in from the front of the sprocket both on the top and bottom....???

Cheap plastic and maybe a oem light I would keep checking Ebay. ATV salvage might be an option, but lights are usually gone and plastic is already broke when it reaches a salvage yard.

Where's the salvage near Mineral Wells? I go through there quit often and have never seen any signs, would like to stop in sometime and see what they have.

 

No its above the case saver and to the right more its a little cavity in the main case that has 1 hole going back into the case and then there are 2 bolt holed that look like a cover should be on there. I believe on the 86 quadracers that was called an inspection plate. Someone else needs to verify this for sure because I can't remember what was inspected by removing the cover. I do believe most of them are missing, they get broken when chains fly off.

 

they call it an inspection cover on a parts break down. it doesn't do anything on this bike. the cover just keeps crap out. i think suzuki copied this case from another bike and it was for an oil injection pump. or they were going to install one on the 250 and changed there mind at the last minute.

i make them out of aluminum and i also made that case saver on there.

Oh and by looking at this. It looks like a inspection plate cover for the clutch, but I couldn't find an answer for you either.

 

their was a little cover that went on that hole, its not important i think its for expansion? i had that quad, very fast you will love it

 

The only purpose I've found for removing that cover is accessing a screw that you need to remove to split the cases. This engine came from an enduro bike that Suzuki made in the late 70s-early 80s, and this space was probably used on that bike.
