Did it just start?

Could be a valve tap, or it could be the cam chain tensioner slapping on the cassett.

Does it go away with RPM increase?

if you have aftermarket cams then most likely thats the noise. if not it sounds like the timing chain or tensioner like what was said before
or your getting piston slap on the wrist pin

Yep, i as well like to run mine hard, but that is no reason for that sound. I had my quad running today and i was trying to pin point the sound. tommorow i am going to order a set of new web cams and once my topend is open i will have the cam chain replaced for the second time now. I just dont understand why the sound is happening.

my guess would be your valves...my buddies z400 did the same thing, adjusted the valves, no more tick!

Yeah, same thing happens with my bike (aftermarket cams). But there's a pretty much stock kfx that rides with me as well, and that ones starting to tick too. It just needs the valves adjusted.
