For one you need shock oil and two, shocks are charged with nitrogen ~175 psi not compressed air. I don't think it matters what you dad does, cause the only way to fix it correctly is have a professional do the work. You can get a shock rebuilt for 100 bucks, and often get one revalved for 175.

Default SUSPENTION LT250R HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Well....wut he thinks is that we can get the oil into the reservoir by bleeding it into there....but im tryin to tell him that the oil is compressed in there...is that right??? and the nitro in the shock HAS TO BE NITRO because of air havin water in it...is that not wrong also????? Ill show him that post and TRY to talk him into it....the reason he doesnt wanna take it in tho is because weve had some bad xperiences with ALL of the ATV dealer/repair shops....even the ones that rnt dealers and ONLY repair.....they r all dicks and cant find ne thing else....thx

The schrader valve on the shock resivoir is strictly for nitrogen, you can't add oil there because the rezzie acts as a seperator of the oil and nitrogen. If the shock didn't have a remote resevior then it might be plausible.

You need someone that specializes in mx/atv suspension, regular mechanics don't rebuild shocks. It has to be disassembled, seals and oil replaced and recharged.

You won't know how much it will cost until they pull it apart and find out what's wrong with it. $100 bucks is about right if everything is ok inside, if the shaft is scratched it could be twice that. I've heard mxtech is a good shop, but I had Elka rebuild mine.
