I'm thinking about buying a Honda 400ex, then a few people told me that I'd be better off with a z400. Can I get some non-biased views on what quad I'd be better off with and why?

 

i think it all depends on what you like not what other people think, because evryone will have their own opinion. if you have had hondas before and liked them id say go with the honda because youre used to them, or same thing with the zuki. or if youve never had either than what do your buddies ride. id say go with what they have unless they really hate theirs, that way youll know people that might run into the same problems you will and will know exactly what to do.

 

The Z400 and the 400ex are both awesome quads but the z400 is faster and it has better suspension. The downside to the z400 is it is abot $5799 and you can get an 04 400ex (old style) for about $4399. So basically it all comes down to which one you like better.

 

But the z400 is a little bit better.

 

I have a bombardier ds650 & a yamaha warrior now. I'm tired of all the problems the bombardier has, so I'd like something reliable; the warrior is a little slow. How does the z400 do in sand compared to the 400ex?

 

i hear the z is great with a couple upgrades. i saw somewhere a z470 with ct pipe , all jetted out and everything, and it ran with piped banshees and rappys, but that was all fixed up, i dunno if thats what youre lookin for, but even with a pipe i hear they run great at dunes. you can probably get the honda to do the same thing but when i went to the dunes i saw more z400s than 400exs

 

From my experiance seems like the zuki floats over the sand better than the ex

 

well, in the dirtwheels mag i was reading they tested the 05 z400vs the 05 400ex, they said the z400 was a bit quicker faster, and better in sand, they also said the only way the 400ex had a chance was on hard compact dirt. just my $0.02

I have a 400ex and have rode z400's and i am jealous b/c their bikes are faster and ride better than my 400ex
