Default Winch install on KQ

Anyone installed a Warn 2.5ci on a KQ? How long did it take? Was it tough?

I just put one on my KQ Saturday. It took about an hour and a half taking my time. If you have the KQ specific winch plate the only thing you have to do is find the ignition hot wire for the switch. The rest is amazingly simple. There is even a pigtail under the front end for this.

There is some corrugated tubing on the throttle side of the quad to run the heavy wires to the winch and holes to mount the contactor under the seat. My winch mount came with it's own bracket to mount the contactor on.

Piece of cake, even for a not-so-mechanically-inclined guy. Suzuki has a great thing going with setting up their machines for a winch from the factory.

If the solenoid is like the Warn one you can put it under the seat all the way in the back. The wiring pigtail is in front of the machine just behind the opening in the plastic for the radiator fill cap. You should see them if you look up from the left wheel opening.

Is that the wire that has the insulation on it? Two of them?... I thought that the under seat could be a good dry place for the solenoid, Thanks for your help, Paulw

Yep there are 2 bullet connectors under there. I think the beige colored one is the one you want. You might want to check it with a test light since I am going from memory though.
