the z400 will eat that ex away!An ex with a full exhaust and jet cant even beat a stock z400, i have raced them.And there is no way a 400 ex with an airbox mod could beat a 660r, un less the guy could not ride at all and took 4 seconds to shift.

 

I can't say for mods, but stock for stock the Z is faster in low and mid range but the EX feels like it has better pull on top end. I have raced both against each other many times and on a 300 foot drag they ended up with basically photo finishes every time. Both riders were about same skill level and weight. they were on an 03 400 EX and an 04 Z400. They were very comprable quads until Zuki stepped up with the 05 revisions.

 

I've been looking into the z and some mods.Don't quote me but I think I remember reading that the HMF full system provided better power and was cheaper.For $20 more you can get the quiet core if you need it but it robs 5% of the hp gains.

 

i dnt know why but the z is like a complete animal compared to the 400ex

 

When my ex was stock ive raced several kfx or Z, I won like one time out of three ,generally the three first speed the ex is a wheel ahead and after fourth speed the z 400 start pulling away slowly till top speed and they have pretty much the same top speed so there the 400 ex is appr. 2 or 3 lentgh away . were the z's the models before and up to 04, because the 05 models have a bigger carb [ i think 1mm] and it makes a difference.

doesnt it also make a difference cause the ex is a SOHC and the Z is a DOHC

 

i wish the mods would ban these ???? this vs that kind of thing.think theres 10 topics a day on the board about whats faster or what not.....it gets old same ??????? need to do a search

 

I'm not being an ahole, but why did you even check this thread out Blackbird? If you don't like reading the this vs that. I'm pretty new here but as of now I enjoy reading them when I get some information out of it. Like what mods you have and how its working out vs another quad and what mods they have. The only part I don't like is when someone does not have an objective opinion and just goes with brand loyalty.
