the factory winch mount for these models stick way out to far in the front. I cant go through steep ditch's/hills that i could go through before with out the winch mount on. Anybody have a solution for mounting the winch under the lights or any other way, or is there another mount that i could buy? Please let me know if you guys have same probs and what solutions are. Thanks

Experienced the same with my quadmaster. Tried a warn mount, hoping to modify it for my superwinch; no go. I posted the same question and the Moose plate seems to be the ticket, mounting the winch in a "tuck back" position between the bars. Haven't tried it yet though many who replied say it's the best.

How about a hitch hopper mount?

This mount allows you to move the winch to the rear of the bike with a pull of the pin. It's avalible for the LT 500 too.

I mounted my winch on the winchmount I purchased from shadetree. It mounts behind the bumper just in front of the radiator. It has spacers to extend the bumper for clearance. Only thing that sticks out front is the fairlead. Easy to mount as well. Call 1-888-742-3387 for Shadetree. The part number for the 98-2000 quadrunner 500 is 81-1556. Cost is $59.99 plus shipping and includes a fairlead, hardware and instructions. It will fit either a superwinch or a warn.
